Ross Edward âBudâ Nixon, age 78, passed away peacefully Thursday January 21, 2016 at his home in Union City. Born January 19, 1938 in Washington Courthouse, Ohio, son of the late Lawrence and Cecil Louise Vest Nixon.
He worked as a police officer in Union City, Ohio, a Darke County Deputy Sheriff, Chief of Police in Gordon and Ithaca, also was an officer on the New Madison Police Dept. He and his wife owned and operated Pawsitively Perfect Pet Grooming in Union City, Ohio. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, US Army and US Navy veteran, graduate of West Jefferson High School class of 1956.
Bud will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and many people in the community whose lives he touched.
Survivors include; wife of 19 years, Michelle Stephens Nixon; daughters, Kristen Nixon of UC Ohio, Julie Nixon of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Jackie (Harold) Olwine of Gordon, Ohio; son, Mike (Marie) Nixon of Japan; grandchildren, Josh, Zach, Jake, Megan; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Larry) Bobo; several nieces and nephews also.
Ross was preceded by his parents; a sister, Mildred Lalonny Nixon; a brother, Billy Nixon.
Calling is 5-7 P.M. Monday January 25, 2016 and 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 26, 2016 at Reichard Funeral Home Inc. 400 W. Deerfield Rd. Union City, Ind. 47390 with Monte Poling officiating. Burial will follow in Snell Cemetery with military burial rites conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
