Robert D Smiley

Robert D. Smiley, 82 of UNION CITY, passed away Wednesday April 22, 2015 at his residence. Bob was a resident of Union City for over 75 years. He was born May 29, 1932 in Union City, Ind. with a twin sister, Betty, that perished during birth. He also had sisters Audrey and Donna that have gone before him. He was also preceded in death by his parents Chauncey and Ethel Stewart Smiley.
The family eventually moved to the Union City area. There he met and married Betty Jean Welch on June 17, 1950 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Union City, Ohio. This year they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Bob worked for 41 years at Triangle Pacific Cabinet factory in Union City. Many of those years involved cabinet repair, which grew his love of working with wood and also with clocks.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean; daughter, Anna Lee (Dane) Sever; grandchildren, Jason A (Belinda) Sever, Stephanie L (David) Reese; great grandchild Fiona Elizabeth Reese (born March 23rd, 2015) that reside in The Woodlands, Texas just north of Houston.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Monday April 27th, 2015 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Franklin St. Union City, Ohio with visitation from 12 noon until the service with the Rev.
