Richard A Gettinger

Richard A. 'Rick' Gettinger, 76, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Reid Health in Richmond after a battle with Parkinson-Plus. He was born April 12, 1944, in Union City, IN son of the late Carl O. and Mae Louise Elwell Gettinger.
Rick was a lifelong member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, graduated with the Union City Wayne High School class of 1962, was a member of the Lions Club, a member of the Union City McDonalds Gang, and worked at the UCBC/WH for 47 years. Rick found pleasure in the simple things; travel, golf, pizza, his front porch swing, riding the golf cart, and watching his children and grandchildren pursue their dreams. More than anything, Rick loved spending time with his high school sweetheart.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Connie Overholser Gettinger; children, Melissa (David) Taylor of Portland, IN, Angie (John) Cross, Ryan Gettinger both of Union City, IN; grandchildren, Caitlin (Jeremy) Spradlin, Dr. Megan Taylor, Kelsey Cross, Esq., Wil (Laurann) Taylor, Kyle Cross and Peyton Gettinger; great-grandchildren, Ayden Spradlin, Mac Taylor, Eve Taylor; 2 nieces, Leigh Schlegel, Christy ConStande; and his canine companion, Bogie.
He was preceded by his parents; siblings, Marcia Jo & Allan Dye, Ramon Gettinger.
Visitation is 5-7 PM Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc., 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, IN. Services will follow at 7 PM. Burial will be held later at the convenience of the family.
