Philip L Arthur, lifelong resident of Union City, Ohio, and Indiana went home to be with Our Lord on October 15, 2024. He was born April 21, 1940, to the late Ivan and Florence (Williams) Arthur.
Phil served in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. Phil was a skilled musician, his musical talents included: playing guitar, keyboard, harmonica, steel guitar, and saxophone. Some at the same time! His other passion included astronomy, spending many nights viewing the heavens in the backyard observatory he built. His love for his family and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his son, Curtis Dale Gilligan of Lakeland Florida, who generously spent the last few years in Union City, so Phil could continue to live at home. His daughter Tammy (Jim) Hill of Piqua, Ohio, brother-in-law Jim Bretz, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Nephews “The Bretz Boys” and their families. Along with several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents. His wife, Beverly (Bretz) Arthur, and his brother Michael L Arthur
Graveside services will take place on Monday October 21, 2024, at 11:00 in Union City Cemetery.
