Ovie Tirey

Union City, OH - Ovie Tirey, 86, of Union City, Ohio, passed away Friday March 1, 2013 at the Union City Care Center, Union City, Ohio.

He was born March 21, 1926 in Yellow Rock, Kentucky to the late William and Nannie Isaacs Tirey. He worked for the Crosley Corp. and the Dunn Mental Health Center both in Richmond, Indiana.

Ovie attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church, loved to play the guitar and banjo while also being a member of a Blue Grass Quartet.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Carol Norman Tirey; a son, Owen (Debbie) Smithers of Columbus, Ohio, four daughters; Norma (Harold) Callahan, Gerry (Barry) Bussen both of Richmond, Indiana, Shelli Petty and Kelli Laudry both of New Castle, Indiana. Two step sons; John (Genny) Fields of Union City, Ohio, and Bill (Cheryl) Fields of Union City, Indiana. Eleven grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ovie Tirey; a grandson; one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Monday March 4, 2013 at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc. Union City, Indiana, with the Rev. Brian Jenkins and Rev. Jim Meredith officiating. Burial is at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
