Nancy Jane (Suitts) Root 

Nancy J. Root passed away on Monday January 6, 2025, at Pine Knoll Rehabilitation in Winchester, Indiana. 

She was born on October 31, 1937, in Union City, Indiana. She was the daughter of Marjorie (Strader) Suitts and Kenneth Suitts, both deceased. 

Husband Floyd A Root deceased. Brother Don Suitts deceased. 

Survived by 1 son; Aric Todd (Susann) Bateman, 3 daughters; Cheree (Leslie) Cox, Shawna (Root) Frazee and Cassandra (Michael) Lloyd, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 sisters: Diane (Gary) Keener, and Linda Wilson. Sister-in-law; Pat Suitts. Several nieces and nephews. 

Nancy was a graduate of Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. She was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She taught at Mississinawa Valley Schools as a Kindergarten teacher for 30 years and then subbed for many years after retirement. She was an inactive member of Tri Kappa sorority, an active member of First Christian Church in Union City, Indiana serving as a deconess, and Sunday school teacher. 

Visitation will take place on Thursday January 9, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W Deerfield Road Union City, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm.
