PARKER CITY, Formerly of Muncie, IN - Mark J. Neff, 62, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Parker Health Care after an extended illness. He was born October 2nd, 1955 son of the late Arthur Neff & Mary Gates Redmond of Farmland, IN.
Mark graduated in 1978 from the Citadel military college in Charleston, SC; was a captain in the Big Red One stationed at Fort Riley, KS; worked for the state of Indiana division of child and family services; coached wrestling and taught high school for 6 years. Mark was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Winchester, he was a very active member teaching children's religious education and was a Eucharistic minister for many years. Mark was a nationally ranked chess player and traveled across the country to play in tournaments. He lived for his family, especially teaching his nieces and nephews the joys of learning.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Gates Redmond(husband Bill) of Farmland, IN; 4 brothers, Chris (wife Sharon) Neff of Kansas City, MO, John (wife Robin) Redmond of Muncie, IN, Dan (wife Linda) Redmond of Farmland, IN, Brian Redmond of Taylorsville, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley (Steve) Grevenkamp of St. Henry, OH; 15 nieces and nephews; 9 great nieces and nephews.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Neff; paternal grandparents, Perry and Mabel Neff; maternal grandparents, Don and Caroline Gates; 2 brothers, Rick and Don Redmond
Visitation is 5-8 PM Friday October 5th, and 9-10 AM Saturday at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc., 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, IN. Mass will be held 10:30 AM Saturday October 6th, 2018 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winchester, IN with Father Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Union City, IN.
