Lyle D. Gilbert, 78

Lyle D. Gilbert, 78, formerly of Union City, Ohio passed away Tuesday December 2, 2014 at Hospice of Indianapolis.

He was born July 16, 1936 in Bluffton, Indiana to the late Paul & Mary D. (Dowty) Gilbert.  A U.S. Army Veteran and a 1960 graduate of Ball State University with a B.A. in Business, he owned and operated Mangas Agencies for 43 years, belonged to; the Elks Lodge #1534 and the Masonic Lodge #401 both of Union City, Indiana, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis and New Hope Presbyterian Church in Fishers, Indiana. Lyle loved his family and enjoyed golfing and sports.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judy A. (Prince) Gilbert; son Michael (Lisa) Gilbert of Noblesville, Indiana; grandchildren Austin, Mikaela and Carter Gilbert; sister Ellen Reff of Bluffton, Indiana; and a brother Keith (Barbara) Gilbert of Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Kimberly Gilbert “1976;” 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday December 7, 2014 at Reichard Funeral Home Inc., 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, Indiana, followed immediately by memorial services at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Ebling officiating.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Vincent’s of Indianapolis Hospice, 1750 Payne Road, Indianapolis, Indiana or Hospice of donor’s choice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
