Kenneth “Kenny” Ayers, 93, of Union City, IN passed away on March 14, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Winchester. He was born on August 4, 1930, to the late Lloyd and Ruby (Reed) Ayers.
Kenny served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He was a graduate of Ball State University where he obtained his master’s degree in education. He had a 37-year career at Union City High School and Middle School as a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, athletic director, and principal. He was a member of American Legion Post 12, the Elks Club, and a 50-year member and past president of the Union City Lions Club, and an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. Kenny was one of the original inductees into the Union City Community High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Ayers of Union City, son David (Suzanne) Ayers of Fishers, IN, daughter Jane (Scott) Guggenbiller of Sidney, OH, grandchildren Lee Ann (Scott) Foster, Mark (Meghann) Ayers, Emily (Kyle) Brown, Katie (Ben) Knapp, great grandchildren Hudson, Sawyer, Celia, Cameron, Barrett, Finnick, Dakota, Lennox, Evee, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and five brothers.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Wednesday March 20, 2024, at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Kenny’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with pastor Geoff Grow officiating. Burial will take place later at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Union City Education Foundation 731 N. Plum Street, Union City, IN 47390.
