Kaya Marie Patterson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kaya Marie Patterson, a loving mother, and a remarkable woman. Kaya passed on December 10, 2023, with her mother and father by her side. Kaya’s free spirit, and boundless love will live on in the hearts of her daughter and those who love her.

From a young age, Kaya always wanted to help those around her. Kaya’s colleagues and friends remember her as a dedicated worker and a person always willing to help others. Her family was not surprised that even in her death, she is helping others by becoming an organ and tissue donor. Her donations to the Indiana Donor Network will help more than 150 people.

Kaya was born November 25, 1991, to Tami Holt of Union City and Jason Patterson of Winchester. She graduated from Union City Community High School in 2010. She met Abe Moreno-Diaz and from their love, daughter Mila Moreno was born on March 17, 2020. Abe and Kaya co-parented beautifully, and Abe will help Mila know how much Kaya loved her as she grows up.

Other survivors include her mother, Tami Holt, her father Jason Patterson (Melinda), Significant Other Jessica Biggs, sister Mara Patterson and nephew Michael, brother Nathan Patterson, step siblings Starlena Gerber (Billy), Maria Conwell, Jason Perry (Aubree), Grandparents Fred (Maggie) Patterson, Connie Young, Ron and Marcia Holt, aunt Toni (Dustin) Reynolds, uncle Ron (Casey) Holt, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, Indiana Sunday December 17, 2023, from 1-3 p.m. with services at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to consider donating to the fund established for Mila’s college 529 account. Information about the account will be posted on social media and available at the celebration of life.

We also humbly request everyone consider if organ and tissue donation is a choice you would make. Information will be available during the celebration of life.
