John W. Murphy 83, of Union City, passed away June 11, 2021. He was born in New Madison, Ohio, on December 13, 1937, to William T. Murphy and Mae (Hoover) Murphy.
He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Union City, and then graduated from Union City High School in 1955. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1956. John traveled the world from Australia to Norway, and many places in between. After serving our country for 21 years he retired in 1975, and started working at the Union City Body Company in 1977. He worked there until 2000, and was the first to retire from Workhorse.
Survivors include his children Craig, Todd, and Susan Murphy; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 26 years Carolyn Sue Murphy.
A graveside service to remember John will take place at Lisbon Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
