Jerome M Leahey

 Jerome M. Leahey, 86, of Union City, IN passed away on February 8, 2022 at his home surrounded by his children and wife. He was born in Union City, IN on May 6, 1935 to the late James and Mary Adine Leahey.

 Jerome attended Catholic School in Union City until the seventh grade.  He then attended the seminary from 8th grade through high school.  He decide to leave the religious life and enroll at Butler University to pursue pharmacy.  During that time his mother suffered a traumatic accident. Due to his fascination with the healing process, he changed his focus to medicine.  He transferred to the University of Dayton for undergraduate school then was accepted to Indiana University School of Medicine.  While attending IU he met the love of his life, Eileen Scubelek.  They married and eventually had 6 children.  Dr. Leahey returned to Union City to practice medicine and raise his family.  He practiced over 50 years retiring at age 82.

 Survivors include his wife Eileen of 60 years, children; Mary Ellen Leahey (Venable) of Union City, IN, Patti Leahey Hresko (Paul) of Elk Rapids, MI, Michael Leahey of Union City, IN, Laureen Leahey Baetz (John) of Columbus, OH, Kathi Leahey McAuliffe (Steve) of Monticello, IN, Karen Leahey Livingston (Jamie) of Union City, OH, brother; Patrick Leahey of Danville, Kentucky, and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his Brother James Thomas Leahey.

 Friends may call on Friday February 18, 2022 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 6 pm to 8 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church 425 W. Hickory  Street, Union City, IN 47390.

 Services will be held at the church on Saturday February 19, 2022 at 10:30 am.

 Burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Union City, IN.
