Janice Lee Fisher, age 88, of Union City, IN, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2021. She was born April 8, 1932, in Union City, IN, to the late Neil H and Audrey F (Lorton) Gettinger. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1950, attended Ball State University, and married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Lee Fisher, on September 28, 1952, who preceded her in death in 2016. They were married 62 years and lived on a farm in Jackson Township.
Janice loved her family, grandchildren, and community. She was a devoted farm wife who worked hard and loved being outdoors. She was especially known for her culinary skills. Aside from working on the farm, Janice was employed by the 4-H Extension Office, was a lab technician for Campbell Soup in Saratoga, IN, and spent 25 years and retired from Randolph Eastern School Corporation as a Food Service Manager for Union City Community High School. Janice was a member of Rural Couples Extension Club and participated most of her life.
Janice is survived by her 3 children, Jamie L Cranor (Brian) of Fishers, IN, Richard L Fisher (Cheryl) of Winchester, IN, and Gary L Fisher (Christa) of Powell, OH;
9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her sister, Alice A Kaufman; nieces and nephews, Debbie Graves, Sueanne Stewart, Patti Blaylock, and Tom Ray.
Also preceding her in death is her first born Jannenne, her sister, Nancy Ray, and grandson, Ryan.
Visitation is Friday March 19, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the Reichard Funeral Home, 400 W Deerfield Rd, Union City, IN. Services will be at 1PM also at the funeral home with the Rev. Geoff Grow officiating. Burial will follow in the New Lisbon Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 515 W Oak St, Union City, IN, 47390 where Janice was an active member for many years.
