James F. Spradling, Jr, 81, of Wilmington, OH, passed away November 29, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 21, 1942, in Union City, IN, son of the late James F. and Berneice Cook Spradling.
Jim owned and operated Creative Woodworking, owned and operated Union City Country Club from 1968-1978, built the Ambassador Motel for his mother which he later owned and built the Union City Ball Diamonds. He graduated from Jackson High School, attend the Wesley United Methodist Church, Union City Community High School golf coach, and was chairman of the Farmer Merchants Day parade committee for several years. Jim was a US Army Veteran.
Survivors include companion Janet Paul; stepson, Jeff (Lesa) Maloon of London, OH; 2 sons, James “Jay” Spradling of Fairborn, OH, Josh (Jenny) Spradling of Union City, OH; 4 grandchildren Ashley (Nick) Napier, Adam Maloon, Alexis and Caleb Spradling; great grandson Griffin Napier; twin sister, Terry Jones of Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded by his parents; wife Patricia ‘Trish’ Wright Spradling “2001;” and a sister Toby Owens.
Visitation will be held Thursday December 5, 2024, from 12 Noon-2 PM at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc., 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, IN, funeral service at 2 PM with Rev. Jennifer Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union City Cemetery.
