Harlow E Thum

Harlow E. Thum, 77, Union City, IN, died on Friday, July 27, 2012.  He was born to Earl and Marjorie (Harlow) Thum on March 11, 1935 in Ithaca, MI.

He attended Ithaca High School and graduated in 1953.  He enlisted in the Army and served from 1954 – 1956.  

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Phyllis and his three children, LeAnn Thum Cook (fiancé Tom Lindemann) of Lake Odessa, MI; David and Patti Thum of Avon Lake, OH; and Lori and Mike Hollaway of Independence, KY.  Other survivors include six grandchildren, Brian and Haley Cook, Brandon Cook, Brenna Cook, Alex Thum, Kaitlyn Thum and Nick Thum; and one great-grandson, Chad McCall.  He is also survived by three sisters and one brother.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Harlow retired in 1997 as Human Resource Manager from United Technologies located in Dayton, TN.  He also previously worked for Sheller-Globe Corporation in Union City, IN and Lobdell-Emery in Winchester, IN and Alma, MI. 

He was a Past Worshipful Master of Ithaca Masonic Lodge #123, a 32nd Degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, a member of Alma Elks Lodge #1400, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, and Wesley United Methodist Church in Union City.

Visitation will be Monday, July 30th at Reichard Funeral Home in Union City from noon to 2:00 with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 with Pastor Alex Hershey officiating.  Burial will be at Union City Cemetery.
