Gary Lawson Harvey

April 12, 1941 — September 11, 2021

Gary Lawson Harvey, 80 of Union City, IN passed away Saturday September 11, 2021 at Reid Health in Richmond. He was born on April 12, 1941 the son of the late John Walter & Margaret (Evans) Harvey.

Gary graduated from Lynn High School in 1959 and went on to receive a master of Arts in Education degree from Ball State University. He taught at several Randolph County Schools where he retired from Randolph Southern in 2002. Aside from teaching, Gary was involved in the Randolph County Youth Leadership Council, as well as Lynn Randolph Southern Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years Janice E. (Kaufman) Harvey of Union City, IN; son Ray Mac Harvey of Angola, IN; step sons James (Rachel) Soderberg of Noblesville, IN and John Soderberg of Lafayette, IN; step grandchildren Elliott Soderberg, Meredith Soderberg, and several other family membes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Margret (Kircher) Harvey; sisters Barbara (Max) Kolp, and Cleo (Gerald) Harmon.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Reichard Funeral Home, 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Gary's life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Buena Vista Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to charity of choice.
