Elvin “Bud” Gray, 90, of Winchester, IN went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2022.
Bud was born on July 20, 1931 to the late Alva and Nora (Miller) Gray in Winchester, IN. Upon finishing school in the late 1940’s, he started working at Anchor Hocking Glass. A few years later, he joined the United States Air Force at the age of 19. He earned the rank of Sergeant and ended his service with an honorable discharge. Bud then returned to his career at Anchor Hocking Glass where he ultimately retired from after 44 years of employment. Following retirement, Bud held various occupations to keep busy including plowing snow in his well-known green, Ford truck every winter. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as had a sweet tooth for pie. He also loved being outside gardening and maintaining a well-manicured lawn, socializing with everyone in the community, and most of all being with his family.
Bud married Beverly (Cole) on December 3, 1966. Beverly had four children; Mark, Kathy, Dave, and Royce: then Bud and Beverly had one child together, Bruce in 1968. Bud and Beverly recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Bud is preceded in death by his son, Bruce Gray. He is survived by Beverly Gray, Mark Cole, Kathy Cox, Dave (Jackie) Cole, Royce (Kathy) Cole, daughter-in-law Lesia (Scott) Kinder, five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Rd. Union City, IN 47390 on Saturday, March 12, 2022. Viewing will be open to friends and family from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Services will immediately follow with burial in the New Lisbon Cemetery in Union City, IN. Any donations in his memory can be made to The Journey Home that supports veterans 325 S.
