Duwayne J. Phenis, age 63, of Lynn, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
He was born on July 2, 1954 in Winchester to Roscoe E. and Addie M. (Roberts) Phenis. He attended Randolph Southern Jr. Sr. High School. Duwayne was a self-employed contractor for over 30 plus years. He loved to camp, fish and take vacations. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Barbara (Younger) Phenis; his children, Chris (Marcy) Phenis, Jamie (Travis) Coats, Hayley Phenis, Amy Denton, Brian Denton, Tracy (Rick) Hawley, Rob (Lisa) Morford and Brandy (Josh) Rice; 22 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 7 brothers, Roscoe (Stella) Phenis, Jerry Phenis, Davey (Delores) Phenis, Ronnie (Lestra) Phenis, Terry (Lori) Phenis, Danny (Diane) Phenis and Eddie (Amy) Phenis; 4 sisters, Patsy Tipton, Marilyn (Acie) Gambrel, Patricia (Don) Jones and Roberta Phenis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Larry Phenis; 2 sisters, Geneva Phenis and Donna Reed; a brother-in-law, John Tipton; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Phenis; 3 nephews, Mark Phenis, Billy Livingston and Jeremy Phenis; and a niece, Jenny Delk.
Funeral services for Duwayne will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Church, 466 E. Elm St., Winchester, IN, with Pastor Greg Pruett and Eddie Phenis officiating. Burial will follow in Spartanburg Cemetery in Spartanburg.
Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the church and also one hour prior to services on Friday. Reichard Funeral Home in Union City is entrusted with the arrangements.
