Douglas Mason

November 19, 1940 — November 8, 2021

Douglas L. Mason, 80, went to be with the Lord November 8, 2021 at his residence. He was born Nov. 19, 1940 in Richmond, VA son of the late Earl Mason and Mildred Slonaker.

Doug began his work career as a fireman, and then worked the early part of his life as a carpet installer for Ramsey's Floor Covering and later was self employed. He was a recipient of a heart transplant in 1987 and a kidney transplant in 2002. He had many years gifted to him from these wonderful gifts and was able to live a full life. Doug was an avid hunter and enjoyed that kind of life, he loved the woods, shooting, hunting and camping with his brothers in the WV mountains. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar around the camp fires with the Children of Our Heart, and on Sunday mornings at church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joan Mason; son, Mike Mason of U.C., IN; a sister Shirley Mann of Martinsburg, WV; several nieces and nephews from WV and locally in the Union City area.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by 2 brothers, Kenny and Wayne Mason; 1 sister Edna.
A celebration of Life will be held 10:30 AM Friday November 19, 2021 at the New Lisbon Christian Church in Union City, IN with pastor Sam Davenport serving as the celebrant. Burial will be held later at the convenience of the family.
