Barbara Ann Bothast

November 27, 1933 — November 18, 2013

Barbara Ann Bothast, 79, of Union City, IN passed peacefully on November 18, 2013 at IU North in Carmel, IN.

Barb was born November 27, 1933 in New Pittsburgh, IN to the late Ralph and Mary Catherine (Haley) Stewart.  Her father nicknamed her Bob and she was known as Bob to many people.  She married Victor Allen Bothast, Sr. on April 1, 1950.  She was a beautician, wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.  She loved to cook and is known for her feasts at holiday times, where all were welcome.  One of her pastimes was reading cookbooks.  Bob also loved to garden and to shop for bargains.  She was interested in her entire family and was a terrific role model for life and making everyone feel special.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Victor, four daughters, Catherine (Ed) Schafer, Pamela (Mike) Monk both of Winchester, IN  Cynthia (Jon) Miller of Portland, IN  Jody (Rick) Koon of Union City; one son Victor Jr. (wife Kathy) of  Union City; fourteen  grandchildren,  Aaron Schafer, Josh Barnes, Lisa Bothast, Nathan Bothast, Barbara Bothast, Andrew Miller, Ericka Kramer, Misty Mote, Amanda Wood, Brandon Monk, Brooke Monk, Taylor Koon, Jessica Holt, Greg Koon; two sisters, Wanda Geesy, Sue Yoder, and two brothers,  Duke Stewart and Richard Stewart, thirty five great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, and her beloved four legged pups Matty and Daisy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary, brothers Ralph Jr., John, Don, and one grandson Victor III.

The family gives a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Winchester, IN and IU North in Carmel for caring and comforting Barbara.  She wanted us to let you know she appreciated all that you did for her.

A funeral service led by Rev. Craig Dusek for Barbara will be Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Reichard Funeral Home, St. Rt. 28, Union City, IN, at 4 p.m.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 2-4 p.m.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
