UNION CITY â Alva Eugene âGeneâ Stewart, 77, passed away Thursday October 13th, 2016 at his residence. He was born September 13th, 1939 in Randolph County, Ind. son of the late Alva and Gladys Davis Stewart.
Gene retired from Sheller-Globe after many years and also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married his wife Bobby Joyce Pace Sept. 2, 1966.
Survivors include; wife of 50 years, Bobby Joyce (Pace) Stewart; children, Billie (James) Marshall of New Madison, Ohio, Betsy (David) Harter of Greenville, Glenda Rutter of Greenville, Ohio, Debra Alexander of Winchester, Ind.; grandchildren, Chad Harter, Bobby Jean Livingston, Jamie Rutter, Brad Bell, Amy Lopez, Derek Hodge, Andrea Hodge, Amy Day and Jeremy Alexander; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, Everett (Regina) Stewart of Ridgeville, Ind., Jerry (Judy) Stewart of Decatur, Ind.; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members also.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Russell Franklin âFrankâ Hodge, William Rial âWillieâ Hodge III; a grandson, Shannon Harter; siblings, Kenny Stewart and Doris Starr.
Visitation is 12 noon -1:00 p.m. Tuesday October 18th, 2016 at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc., 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, Ind. Services are 1:00 p.m. Tuesday also at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
