Allen Wayne Knox was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 8, 2025, at the age of 63, after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He stands in our hearts as a reminder of strength, faith, and love.
Allen was born to Phyllis (McClain) and David Baldauf on November 11, 1961, in Portland, Indiana. As a teenager he grew up in Hartford City, Indiana and attended Blackford High School. Allen was a proud member of their 1979 state championship football team, setting a record for most blocked punts that season. Allen graduated from Ball State University and pursued a career in insurance, working primarily for Indiana Farm Bureau and Westfield Insurance companies.
Allen met and married his wife Kim (Adcock) in 1993 at the Winchester Nazarene Church; it was a match truly made in heaven. Together they raised three children, Scott, Chris, and Kavan, in Union City, Indiana (other than the three years they lived in Anderson, Indiana).
In addition to being a dedicated and loving son and father, Allen also loved racing go-karts, building cars, and coaching sports in which his youngest son played. Throughout his life, Allen held a strong faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. Allen was an active member of Wesley Methodist Church in Union City.
Allen is preceded in death by his biological father, David Baldauf, with whom he reconnected later in life and his adoptive father, John Knox, who raised him, as well as his niece, Angela Diane Knox.
He is survived by many loving family members, including his wife, mother, children, and brothers: Jay Knox (wife Diane), Brian Baldauf, and Jeff Baldauf.
Now that Allen has passed into the arms of his Lord, he would want to remind you that while this is the end of his physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him. One in which he hopes to see you again.
Timothy 4:7 says, “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” This describes Allen well.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday April 12, 2025, at Wesley Methodist Church 515 W. Oak Street Union City, IN 47390.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Allen’s life will begin at 1:00 with pastor Geoff Grow officiating. Burial will take place at New Lisbon Cemetery in Union City.
